The Environmental and Social Management Framework (ESMF), for the SUPT Project has been uploaded to the websites of implementing agencies. The ESMF is a framework approach which has been adopted for Environmental Assessment and mitigation of negative project impacts. The ESMF has been used to assess the environmental impact, monitor implementation of interventions and to systematically deal with these impacts.
The framework was developed by the MoUD based on the information available about cities through their City Development Plans/Comprehensive Mobility Plans, followed by site visits, and discussions with city officials supplemented with a review of applicable state, national and World Bank safeguards policies. All participating cities have endorsed this ESMF and ensured that project documents reflect its requirements for environmental management.
